Famulo is a concept of a robot with an ambulatory function. It allows the old people to learn trought technology, to get assistence, comunicate with parents and friends easily and to be monitored in a way to let them able to live in their own house independent.
Some of his functions are: ergonomic and ambulatory function, fun and entertainment, facial recognition, health monitoring, help to memorize appointment and visits, help to monitoring the house.

With the time the motor and sensory skills of the elderly decrease in based on age and lifestyle. The elder can be found in a condition of loneliness e dependence from family or elderly houses. For non self-sufficient elderly people means a person in advanced age that he cannot handle completely itself and his life,in a continuously and permanent way. This condition it does not depend exclusively and automatically from age, but also from accidents, physical or mental diseases as well as relational and socio-economic context and their consequences .
67% of the elderly over 70 years feel the need to be able rely on someone, because they don´t considered themself autonomous. Only 27% of the elderly ask for help and only 23.4% of the elderly claim to have a good economic situation.
Most of the elderly people wish to be able to live at their own home for the longest time possible.
When relatives can no longer take full responsibility of them it can happens that they need to move them to an institute. The transfer experienced is often lived as a drama from the old person, deprived of her power decision and his freedom as of his dignity and of all his family references.

Famulo is a great help for old people to have support to walk. The arms and head are adjustable according to the height of the person. Adjustable hands support from 74 cm up to 1.20 cm, also the head can reach up to 1.39 cm.
The lower part allows the correct space for the elderly´s legs, according to ergonomic regulations.
The tray allows the elderly to have help in carrying objects for them.
The head from Famulo is a screen that is possible to remove to be use as tablet. The same when it is connected is able to move and interact, how it would be a real animated character.
The heights are adjustable for the size of the person which he is using it.
In the lower part, Famulo has the tray, which it is helpful for the elderly to carry objects for them.
It is also the drawer for the battery storage, situated at the center of the node.
The wheels are diveded in back swivel wheels and frontal driving wheels.
The Head from Famulo is a removable device. The shape is angled in a way to be placed over a desk and to be used comfortably, to follow a recipe suggested from Famulo or to video call the parents or family.
In a way to be easy for the elderly to remove and readapte Famulo´s head, the same has on the back part magnets. After the head is located close to the body the magnets are attracting the head and the robot will repositioning it automatically.
The device is made to be very light, and the screen it is impact resistant. It is has as well an easy holding part.
In the lower part, Famulo has the tray, which it is helpful for the elderly to carry objects for them.
Famulo, recharges it self coming back to the platform. The teeth in the centro of the platform come into contact with the point where Famulos battery resides.
Famulo can listen and learn and memorize your voice in a way to be able to interact with you. You can ask question or tell Famulo to activate a function or to call family or friends. It helps you to walk and it understands if there are present obstacles in the house, in the night it also illuminate the patch for you. It check the house for you when you are out, the camera is connected with the robot. It has a smoke and gas detector and it´s control the temperature of the home according to the needs of the person and consumption. It remember the elderly to take medicaments when it is needed. It gives suggestion on lifestyle to the old person. It has heartbeat detector situated in the hand support. It allows the nurses and the family to keep save all the medical documents in Famulo´storage. It educates the seniors trought courses and multimedia. It teach new healthy recipes and new personal easy training to maintain the body active...ectt.
The clip recognizes and helps. The elderly has a brooch as an accessory, wich is always connected with Famulo and the app for the relatives and in case of emergency, fall or arrest, the clip will activate the button, that if it is pressed it will send a notice to the relatives or friends.
The clip also recognizes the user, adapting the interface for simple or medium activity use, and the memory of the software based on the person which is using it in that moment. This function is usefull also when Famulo is used in the hospitalization centers, where the users are many, but the support can also be singolar or in small quantity, to support car givers and nurses.
As loading animation, Famulo will make appear in the screen a smile until it will not turn on.
All works using from one till maximum five icons, from the home page we can reach all the rest of the functions. At the center is the suggestion from Famulo to use at the best the device and proceed without problems in the navigation. The robot helps as well with voice commands. Colours, dimension and shape of the icons are studied to allow the elderly to understand immediately the functions to select.
The interface is customizable, to earn even more in simplicity the seniors can choose whether to mute some features or to add new ones in Famulo. That is helping to personalize the preferences depending on your use, need and ability in deal with the technology. In the case of multiple users, Famulo recognizes the user through the brooch and modifies the preference saved for the interface.
Relatives/friends/car givers can download an application on their telephone that wil alow them to help, monitoring and stay in contact with their elderly.
They can be allowed to manage some functions, llike to be informed in case of danger, as relevament of gas or fire in the house or falls of the elderly person. They can integrate into the family database, books to suggest to read in e-book format, movies that the elderly can look from Famulo´s screen or from the tv. They can also request or view last analysis of the relatives. They can help the seniors to use the robot from far ectt.
